Treatment of atopic dermatitis is based on patient age, symptoms, and overall health. The two primary goals of therapy are to help to heal the skin, as well as to help avoid and manage future flare-ups. There are a variety of medications used to treat atopic dermatitis. Phototherapy may also be an option.1
